debra-hazelA consultant’s consultant, Debra Hazel is a media professional with a particular focus on international retail and commercial real estate, working with clients around the globe while continuing to write about the industry for various publications.

She founded Debra Hazel Communications in 2005 after nearly two decades of reporting and analyzing the expansion of chain retail and shopping center formats for U.S. trade magazine Chain Store Age. As Editor and Editor-at-Large for the International Council of Shopping Centers’ monthly magazine Shopping Centers Today, she traveled the world to report on the growth of retailers and shopping center industry abroad.

Debra now uses that specialized knowledge and relationships with media to provide her corporate clients with a global business perspective on their communications, and is frequently called upon by other firms in need of her expertise. She is the public relations professional for Woodcliff Realty Advisors, a full service consultancy serving retailers, commercial real estate owners and service providers worldwide.

She continues to write and provide industry analysis. She is the editorial consultant to Mann Publications, the author of ICSC’s book “Mixed-Use Development: The Impact of Retail on a Changing Landscape,” the editor of the association’s textbook for design and construction professionals and a guide to urban development, as well as articles for Chain Store Age, GlobeSt.com and Real Estate Forum, and “Around the World in 80 Malls,” a blog that showcases her international real estate expertise.
